Testimony of Lourdes Rojas
I was the only girl out of 6 children, born out of wedlock to a depressed mother & an alcoholic father. My grandparents became my parents at the age of 1. My mother married my stepfather & took me to live with her when I was 9. There was a party every weekend. There was no love but only reasons why my mother hated me. I started drinking to numb my pain at a very young age. I became an alcoholic like my father & a depressed woman like my mother. At the age of 18, my manager from work invited me to The Door on Copia st. in El Paso, TX. I went, but I was not ready to surrender my party life. I partied every day except Mondays & Wednesdays because the clubs were closed. My mother had 3 more girls, the 4 of us had children out of wedlock & were depressed.
Until the summer of 1997, when a friend invited me & my partner to the mother church on Yarbrough in El Paso, TX. That July of 1997 I gave my life to Jesus, got married, & had my last child in 2000. In 1999, my father passed away in front of me, but not before praying the sinner’s prayer. In 2010, I lost my best friend (my brother) to the Mexican mafia; 2 weeks later I lost my half-brother to the same people. That same year, I lost my marriage, my house, my business, my dogs; but God never deserted me. 2011 & 2013 yet again the mafia pierced our hearts. My heart was empty & it got worse when I lost my mother in 2014 and my youngest brother passed away from a heart attack in 2016.
My life was never the same let alone my heart. It has not been an easy road these 29 years in the faith, but it is the most beautiful, peaceful feeling that God is still in my life. He is still working in my heart. All the Glory to my heavenly father that loves me.
